Presence History

Since becoming a Christian in August of 1978, I became convinced that any musical ability I had should be offered back to God. Since that time I’ve been apprenticed by other worship leaders, exposed to anointed worship and developed a desire to offer Him a sacrifice of praise because of His goodness to me and those I love.

Family

I began writing worship songs in 1986 in a small way for a local youth group having songs published locally and used for youth conferences and fellowship groups. Over the years that followed I was involved in a number of Christian bands and travelled to a wide range of events from full concerts to guest worship leading at churches in and nearby my home county of Staffordshire.

I progressed to worship leader at our youth fellowship and continued the practice of apprenticing others who wanted to develop their gifting. As a result of my connections to this fellowship I began to be called on to lead worship at City Wide Celebrations across the denominations and have led worship for the likes of Gerald Coates, Barry Kissell, Peter Meadows, Ray Bevan, Ian Coffey etc. I have also had the privilege of leading worship at county venues linked to national praise marches where we’ve seen thousands gather for times of praise and proclamation.

In 1997 I felt that the time was right to pursue God for more opportunities and asked him to open up the doors if he wanted me to go deeper into this work for him. In God’s inimitable style He said ‘You First !’ So, I approached my boss and arranged initially to take a day a week off my regular employment. I quickly began to get more invites out of the area from performance orientated evenings to weekend conferences, to gigs with Ishmael including Kingdom Faith Camps! Pretty diverse! However I believe that God was showing me that he had been waiting for me to say yes to him.

Many opportunities and blessings have followed during this ‘Worship Walk’ including International opportunities, recording and publishing and the blessing of seeing God move powerfully among my home city people of Stoke on Trent as we have met together to pray, repent and worship.

During 2003 God impressed on me the words ‘this is a year of decision’ Right ay the end of that year Tracy and I felt confident that it was the right time to finally leave my paid employment and really begin to live by faith, allowing Him to provide the resources as we give Him all our time.

God has more than honoured his promise that he would open up the doors if I’m faithful. It’s my prayer that as I write and lead worship that something of his glory will fall and we’ll see God lifted up to His rightful place. Many prophetic words have been spoken over the life and ministry of my family. As I reflect I see His hand on my past and cling on to Him for the future. The proverb out of which came my first worship song is ever true for me. ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and never rely on what you think you know, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.’ (Proverbs Ch 3 vs 5-6)
